Description:
This is a wonderful predynastic burnished red ware jar, dating to the Naqada IIc-d period, circa 3500 - 3200 B.C.
The vessel has a very elegant ovaloid shape with a prominent rounded to recurved modeled rim and a narrow flat base. The clay has a beautiful warm, red-brown colour. A scarce type!
The jar has been tested by thermoluminescence (TL); its age has been confirmed by this test. A copy of the test report comes with the object.

Condition:
Intact with light deposits; two minuscule drill holes from the TL test, hardly noticeable, one on the bottom and one on the insde of the rim; if desired these could easily be covered.
